Yup, that was definitely intentional. It was a NaNo dare one year (I'm guessing 2004 since I can't find it in the '02 or '03 archives), and I use it whenever I get a chance. I think it showed up in... 2005, I think, in St. Louis. It's one of my running jokes. I love it.
