Once again, The Decemberists

...were great. And this time I actually got to see them with friends-- niwandajones and narose picked me up and we headed up to campus together. Shows are always so much more fun with friends!

Of the two opening acts, I dug the hell out of Loch Lomond; they're Celtic-influenced indie folk/rock, and the music is just gorgeous. We missed the beginning of their set ( Read more... )

*laugh* you should try going in person sometime-- there have got to be some good indie acts that blow through StL occasionally!

Sounds like a great show. I haven't seen The Decemberists yet. I dig The Walkmen a lot, or, well, rather, their older stuff is great, sad that they didn't pan out live.

Like I said, it's not that The Walkmen were bad, they were just so goddamn loud that it was hard for me to take them seriously, and to actually tell whether they were any good.

Seeing The Decemberists around your neck of the woods is an expensive proposition, unfortunately, as they're big enough now to play The Calvin. Though in your capacity as holder of one of my top five Awesome Jobs, you should be able to get in for free next time they come, and I *highly* recommend their live show. Hell, last time they all wore ninja costumes. How awesome is that?
