A couple of weeks ago, my friend and I left my house to go out, and my cat, Simon, started following us. My friend and I were walking slowly and kept looking back at Simon, waving, and saying things like, "Hi Simon!", "Bye Simon!" etc ( Read more... )

Gah - I hate other peoples' opinionated little comments like that. I find them patronising and intrusive.

Same here! She was such an annoying woman! And she thought that she was being smart, that we were the weirdos. Well, she was wearing a hat!

In linguistics we learned a couple of Mandarin words to illustrate tone. There is one word that has four different tones, one of them meaning "cat", and one meaning "Chairman Mao".

People just need to mind their own motherfucking business!!!!!

I will say though that I was in French class my Senior year of high school (French 1, so I was with a bunch of dumbass Freshman) who asked our teacher (after asking really fucktard things like 'do people drive cars in France? do people have REFRIGERATORS in France?) 'do dogs in France understand French?' and i thought that was the dumbest question ever because to me, it's not a language they understand but SOUNDS that they associate with actions. I did have a good laugh in China though when a dog in a hostel (rightfully so) didn't understand me when I said 'SIT!' (being owned by Chinese people who never say SIT, so it can't associate that sound!), but it did sit when i said 'ZUO'! So perhaps I'm wrong, and that' it's both sounds AND words.

People just need to mind their own motherfucking business!!!!!

Exactly! And the woman thought she was being clever, that we were the weirdos, when she was the idiot!

I might ask the lady how she gets electricity to her igloo - or maybe something else bizarre, outlandish or the like.

actually, I'd probably just tell her to mind her own business and add that she doesn't know anything at all about cats.
