So OK Cupid just pulled a Facebook. Once again it changed, but made things worse.
For those of you not familiar with OK Cupid, at the top of your profile, there is was a sentence that you can fill in with three adjectives that describe yourself: I am _____, _____, and _____. Most people fill it in with run-of-the-mill adjectives, such as I am

Yeah, it is different--we can only search for people within our parameters. If I have my parameters set to "men 19-25" for example, I will only be shown men under 25 (except for the odd 48 year old--WTF?) and miss out on any potential hot 26-30 year old men. The issue I have is: search parameters are NOT necessarily what you are interested in--there are many reasons why you may search for profiles that don't match what you are looking for in a partner, as indicated in my post--yet OKC is presenting these search parameters as what you are interested in. And, I don't want people to know what my search parameters are! What if I feel like looking at women's profiles, for whatever reason? That doesn't mean I am interested in women!
So I've set my 'preferences'/parameters to guys over 5 foot 11.
I have NEVER received an email notification containing a guy over 5"11WTF ( ... )

Most of the guys who are listed as 37 or 38 look so old because they are probably really 45. People lie about their ages like crazy. Women seem to lie about age a bit more than men, but men make up for it by lying about their height. And don't even get me started on people using old photos. Honesty just isn't all that common on dating sites (but then again, deception is pretty common in dating in general).

I just checked, and this is what it said when I clicked on that icon (which annoys me too--I don't want my profile cluttered with fucking edit icons!):
These settings also control which users you see on Home, Quickmatch, Quiver, Journals, and IceBreakers.
So if I do change my "what I'm looking for", it also changes the profiles I see. So while I don't want a guy who is over a certain age, I do want to see profiles of guys a few years older, just in case there are some hot older guys. Because I'm not really biased about a guy's age, just what they look like! (I had a math teacher who was 41. Way older than my preferences, but he was super hot, and hotness >>> age.)
Most of the guys who are listed as 37 or 38 look so old because they are probably really 45. Ahh...that makes sense. I have not seen one guy who is "34-39" (I specifically put quotation marks around that) ( ... )
