I don't have a cat carrier, so whenever I take Simon to the vet, I put in him a box with holes cut in the sides and the lid. About half an hour ago, Simon crawled into the box and I put the lid on it (if he wanted to get out, he could easily push the lid off, or I would let him out). I totally forgot about him being in the box, because he's been ( Read more... )

That cat sounds very amusing. One of the finest companions in the world, cats are.

As I finished the entry, I got out of the box to drink some water

I'm assuming you goofed and weren't actually in the box yourself?

we took the iguanas to the vet once, and then left them in the car, in their carriers, so we could duck into safeway. ( they're iguanas, heat is their thing, and it wasn't that hot.)

while we were out, they got loose in the car. I tell ya, trying to capture two lizards loose in a hatchback is not as easy as you'd think.

Ha ha ha. How big were they?

At the time, about the size of bananas, body wise. Their tails, about 2x that.

Small enough to make it a challenge.

We have a carrier for both of our cats. One hates the carrier, the other loves it. When the fire alarm goes off, we immediately put them in their carriers (we don't care if we know it's a false alarm; we will alwayyyyys bring them out with us when that alarm goes off). When we bring them in, we of course open the the carriers so they can jump out, but one of them will lounge in it just like Simon does. :-P Sometimes we keep the carriers out and unzipped, and that same cat will sometimes jump in it just to sleep, and the other will jump in that SAME carrier to harass him. I love cats.

I'd do the same thing. When I used to live in apartment buildings and there was a false alarm, people were always outside with their pets.

I knowww there are other cats in this building, and when we have alarms, they don't bring out their cats! :(

I don't think I've ever known a cat to be claustrophobic. They love their dark and cramped nooks and crannies.
