Simon didn't have any diarrhea on Saturday, and took a normal crap on Sunday, but I was still worried, because it appeared that he hadn't urinated since at least Friday night, perhaps even earlier. There was a chance that he peed while he was outside, but it was suspicious that there was no indication of urine in his kitty litter, so I became ( Read more... )

That is so cute that he comes when he's called! Love it!

It's great! A few days ago, I went out my front door and called his name a couple of times. He was in the backyard where I couldn't see him, but he came!

Is this normal cat behaviour?

I don't think so, I think cats usually only come when called if they're starving! Our outdoor cats will follow us to my grandma's house (3 houses away) and all sit on the porch and wait for us to walk home. Its pretty funny to walk down the road with three cats following you...

Even though he doesn't want to come in, he'll come when called. Of course I will call him when I want to bring him in (sometimes he will be a bit difficult about this and try and resist me picking him up), but often, just to test him, I will call him to see if he comes.

You have three cats now? I can't keep track!

i don't think you wasted money. when cats DO start having urinary tract problems it IS very serious and they can get very ill very quickly so you were wise to check on him
i'm glad he's ok
he's a very handsome cat

Thanks. That is probably one of the worst pictures of Simon, but he is very handsome. The picture does not do him justice though! I think he should be on cat food commercials or something. He really is that good looking!

I really like Simon...he was so sweet when I went to your party last year. It's so wonderful to have a good pet!! I'm glad you take his health so seriously and are such a good mommy to him. :)

I'd wager that he peed outside. Most cats prefer to use the great outdoors- it feels more natural to them.

I remember working at the vet and having to collect urine samples from cats...you have to stick a syringe right through their tummy into their bladder! Poor kitties!

Simon really is an awesome cat. Everyone (unless they don't like cats to begin with), loves him! His personality is just amazing.

Yeah, he must have peed outside, but it just strikes me as odd that he hasn't used his kitty litter, as even when he is permitted to go outside, he does pee when he is inside during the day, and sometimes, when he is outside, he will come in, use his kitty litter, and then go back out. Maybe he knows that I'm not very prompt at cleaning his litter, and so it trying to go outside as much as possible... Well, at least he's drinking and eating and doesn't have a fever.

That sounds painful!

I'm so glad to hear Simon is fine. It must be the week for vet visits - I had to take my two girls in for things I thought were problems which, thankfully, appear to be not much/perfectly normal. Sure, it cost me $120+, but, as you are with Simon, there's no way I would have ignored what may have been a serious problem.

That photo is so cute - he looks a little deranged. :) You're lucky he's a nice, sociable cat. Both my kitties are petrified of all humans other than myself. It really makes me want to know what happened to them before they came to live with me!

Mina & Sasha send Simon lots of nose-kisses. :)

It was tough to take that photo, because it was with my computer, and I had to hold it at such an angle so that Simon was in the photo, but I wasn't.
