Title: Accustomed To
Rating: R (for implied naughtiness)
Characters/Pairings: Jeb/Raw, Glitch/Wyatt
Summary: Some things just took a little getting accustomed to, but it was always worth it in the end.
Note: Part of the "Perceptible" 'verse, so both couples are married.
There were some things Jeb never thought he would get used to. Being married to a Viewer had caused his list to shrink considerably, as some curious things just became a normal part of his daily life.
Such as waking up to a rough, warm tongue dragging up the back of his bare shoulder.
Stifling a laugh, Jeb rolled his head lazily back to greet a smug-looking Raw, who was spooned up behind him. “What are you doing?”
“Grooming,” Raw’s grin was mischievous and Jeb could tell already he was in for a very good morning indeed.
“Oh, really?” Jeb twisted his body to lay flat on his back, raising one hand up to trail his knuckles up the middle of Raw’s chest. That was another thing Jeb hadn’t anticipated upon becoming intimate with this man; under all those furry clothes and long hair, Raw was unexpectedly smooth-skinned. “Is there...anywhere else you can think of that needs grooming?”
Raw must have been waiting for an invitation because he disappeared under the covers and soon had Jeb writhing and moaning, fingers clutching Raw’s shoulder and toes curling against the sheets. Bringing Jeb to an embarrassingly swift release, Raw emerged looking even more pleased with himself than before. “Good morning,” he belatedly greeted his mate.
“Nnnggh,” Jeb replied, pulling Raw down for a thorough kiss.

Another thing Jeb was getting used to was having his father show up at the most inconvenient of times. Such as while he was working.
Worse, was having both his fathers and his husband turn up while Jeb was in the middle of a drug raid in downtown Central City. He was just thankful that the arrests were well underway and the building being cleared by a dozen cops.
Holstering his weapon and pushing past one of his fellow officers, who was hauling a chemist in the direction of the rapidly filling wagon, Jeb put on his best ‘I’m busy’ face. “What are you guys doing here?”
Glitch proudly held up a brown paper bag. “Shopping,” he grinned.
Jeb rolled his eyes. “Well, you guys need to head back the other way, we’ve got this whole area sectioned off for the investigation,” he told them, making sweeping gestures with his hands. “I’ll tell you all about it later - “
He was cut off by rapid gunfire coming from inside the building. Shattering glass, shouting and returning fire from the cops sent the street into chaos. Reacting automatically, Jeb ducked down and pulled his gun, pushing the nearest of his family forward. “Go, go! Behind that car,” he yelled, seeing everyone else scattering for cover.
In front of him, Glitch stumbled and they both fell down behind the closest vehicle, cut off from the rest of the men on the street by the continuing shots ringing out from the upper floor windows of the building next door to the one being cleared by the cops.
Over the sound of gunfire, Jeb heard his father’s voice calling his name from somewhere to their left, but he couldn’t see where Wyatt and Raw were hiding. “Do you have Glitch with you?”
“Yeah, he’s - “ Jeb started, looking down to see Glitch rolling onto his back with a pained grimace. Jeb’s gasped as he saw the blood slipping out from between clenched fingers held tight against Glitch’s left side. “Oh, no.”
Glitch used his other hand to swat Jeb’s leg then finished Jeb’s response himself. “We’re fine, we’re both okay,” Glitch shouted, even as he winced.
“Glitch!” Jeb hissed, already on his knees and not knowing if he should touch the injured man. “My dad’s going to kill me when he finds out you lied!”
“Jeb, you know your father,” Glitch licked his lips, clearly doing his best to stay calm. His hand trembled when he made a vague waving motion in the air. “If he knew one of us was hurt, he’d do something stupid like run over here and get himself killed. Just...I’ll be fine. Nothing Raw can’t fix when this is over.”
The only thing left for Jeb to do was wait it out, listening as his superiors shouted orders and more windows were broken. He left a hand resting on top of Glitch’s, adding pressure to the wound as Glitch slowly weakened from blood loss. “Hold on, just a little longer, they’re almost done securing the second group of shooters. Please, just...stay awake, okay?”
Glitch whimpered faintly at the weight on his abdomen, his eyelids fluttering against sickly pale cheeks. Even his lips had lost their usual dark color. “M’okay. Okay.”
“You said that,” Jeb informed him absently. He raised his head and listened as silence finally fell on the street, then it was only voices. The most welcome voice being the one that called out the ‘all-clear’ signal.
“Jeb? Glitch?” Wyatt’s voice was the next most welcome sound.
“Dad, get over here now. Raw?” Jeb called back, eyes searching for the familiar figures until they finally emerged around the corner of the car.
“Here,” Raw spoke up then caught sight of Glitch. “Shot,” he growled, even as he knelt down and reached for where Jeb and Glitch’s hands were making a feeble attempt to stop the bleeding.
“You lied to me,” Wyatt said harshly as he curled his body around Glitch’s head, hands braced on either side. He leaned down so their foreheads met. “Gods, Glitch, be all right.”
Glitch raised his free hand up to grip Wyatt’s arm. “Was for the best,” he mumbled, groaning when Raw pushed his blood-soaked hand out of the way. “Ow, go easy on me,” he complained weakly.
Raw grunted in return and closed his eyes, frowning. “Bullet still inside, need to take out to heal,” he explained as he started to work his mending magic.
“Glitch didn’t want you to worry,” Jeb said quietly, though he knew no one was listening.
There was a tiny metallic sound when the bullet was removed and dropped to the ground. Glitch cried out and jerked against Raw’s hand when the healing began. Jeb took hold of Glitch’s slick hand, not minding the blood as his own was already covered with it.
Jeb knew it was finished when Glitch slumped to the ground and Raw’s hand patted Glitch’s stomach gently. “Rest,” Raw said softly then looked up at Jeb questioningly.
“He’s all right?” Raw nodded tiredly. “Good, that’s good. I’ll just...I’ll arrange for a car to take you guys home,” Jeb stood slowly and looked around for the nearest officer.
“Jeb,” Wyatt finally raised his head and met his son’s eye. “Thank you. You did good.”
Managing a small, modest smile, Jeb nodded. “I gotta get back to work. Glitch?”
Glitch made a sleepy, curious sound, half-opening his eyes.
“Get some rest, okay? I’ll come check on you when I get home.”
“Mmmm...be safe,” Glitch mumbled. “You’re the only kid we’ve got.”
Jeb laughed and patted Glitch’s knee. “I’ll do my best.” With that, he left Glitch in Wyatt and Raw’s hands. If there was one thing he never thought he would get used to, it was having parents again. But he certainly wasn’t going to fight it.
