Even eclectic music lovers have their peeves.

I just realized that I don't like Bossa Nova. I think it's overrated. It all sounds the same to me. Same tempo ranges, same instruments with limited variations of playing, whatever. I don't have any Bossa in my music library at all. Even more than trance, it's a genre I just wouldn't listen to if I had a choice.

Bossa, for some reason, makes me feel uneasy. There arent enough edges to the music. It's to steady, too boring. I hate it when songs become Bossa'd, especially when Sitti sings it. Bossa is so overrated.

Agreed! It gives off that "relaxing coffee shop" feel at first, but then later it gets annoying for me. Especially when I'm there cramming for something. I get sleepy listening to it.

Yes, on most part, I think she did. =)) I think I'd appreciate Bossa more if it weren't for her. Hahaha

i like bossa nova, the original ones, the ones by sergio mendes, antonio carlos jobim, etc...
i hate bossa nova, the covers, the ones by sitti, and other unknown filipino "bossa" artists..
tama ka, pare-pareho yung tunog nila, yung boses din. parang lahat ginaya yung voice ni sitti, unless si sitti yung kumakanta ng lahat ng bossa na naririnig ko sa coffee shops and mcdos. XD

I only know Sergio Mendes, and I admit he's pretty good, but I don't listen to him much either.

I think it's her we hear in coffee shops and mcdo, and if it isn't, I don't get the point of it all. Is it just for the sake of "Bossafying" as many songs as they can, just because they can? Ang tanga naman ng mga artists na yan, mas nagiging nakakasawa tuloy ang Bossa kung ginagaya nila si Sitti. ':p

try listening to jobim and others (astrud gilberto and jaoa gilberto, and other real bossa nova songs from brazil). walang wala ang "bossa nova" ng pilipinas.

ya nga eh. parang nagiging standard ng philippine bossa si sitti.. so sad.

First let me just say that what you are hearing, my dear Mayee, is NOT bossa nova. :)) See, people can't MAKE new bossa nova songs anymore. They can make songs that SOUND like bossa, or FEEL like bossa. But to relive the spirit of bossa nova is for me impossible. Sitti and all these bossa-fied songs will never live up to the genius that is Jobim, Joao or Astrud. They can only copy, they cannot steal. :))

So yun. I honestly despised it when bossa became mainstream (like you'd hear it in Barangay LS) Pardon the elitism, but I don't think any well-rounded and educated being will ever tolerate a ditzy JJ for going around conversations saying she "adores bossa nova", when all she's ever heard is that bastardizing voice of Sitti. :|

Okay, so I guess I have yet to immerse myself in "real" bossa. Most of what I've been hearing are from second-rate trying hard copycats. :))

I really don't like Sitti's music. She makes my brain want to shut itself down. :))
