Argh... stupid Ted, stupid Robin's feelings for Ted...Gah!! Yeah, I know, I'm being ragey, but but but... Barney and Robin are so cool together, if only Ted could get out of the way...T_T
And I still hate the way they don't even bother to look deeper into Barney and believe he is more than the exterior he shows them... :( Sometimes I can't help but think what terrible friends they can be to him (okay, this feeling is probably HEAVILY skewed by my unhealthy completely biased love for Barn..XD)...
Good chapter, nice emotions... pleeeeease make it a happy ending?? Pretty please with a cherry on top? :D
That is the problem with writing s1... first of all, there's the Ted issue to deal with, and second, no one really takes Barney seriously. Of course, s1 Barney doesn't really let anyone in enough for them to take him seriously (in canon, that is). I completely understand the impulse to cuddle Barney to your breast and ignore all his flaws, but they are there, and they will get in the way of his relationships with his friends.
I make no promises regarding the ending. You'll have to keep reading and see.
Oh, real life. Not nearly as much fun as fic. Glad to hear from you again. And I'm definitely glad this isn't completely predictable - to be honest, even while I was writing it I wasn't sure how it would end.
The shooting range scene was actually really important to me, even though it came out pretty short. After all, "Zip, Zip, Zip" was all about how well Robin fit into Barney's world, and we never get much of a sense of Barney doing Robin-ish things. I figured the shooting range was more realistic than a hockey game.
And no, Robin's feelings for Ted aren't going anywhere, even if they are inconvenient for the brotp shippers in all of us. Probably my pet peeve in fan fiction is when writers just dismiss relationships that they don't like (a more prevalent example is the myriad fics that make Nora out to be obnoxious, clingy, and/or get rid of her within five minutes.)
And that's probably a longer response than you cared about. Thanks for reviewing!
Thanks! I've read "The Best Armor," and I don't think I'm quite on your level in terms of achingly human characters, but I'm glad to hear it feels right to you.
Wow - this is an AMAZING story! By some stroke of genius, you've managed to combine everything I love about Barney and Robin's characters - the shooting range, their deep-seated insecurities, the amazing sex they have and their FEELINGS - and meshed them up into one fantastic story.
Mostly, I love that Barney and Robin are both so true to their characters, and how this story is developing. Definitely looking forward to reading more! :D
Thanks! You just listed most of my favorite things about Barney/Robin, too. There's just something deeply satisfying about putting together two characters who are awful at relationships, and figuring out that it somehow works. Eventually.

But I've caught up now, and am so enjoying this story. The Game Night chapter was so wonderfully perfect. I love s1 Barney and Robin, so much.
I can't wait to see where you go with this, I can't even begin to guess how it's going to end! :)

Also, I love that Robin took Barney to the shooting range. That was awesome.
