SPN 9-21 King of the Damned Thoughts, Screencaps and a few icons

I got this ready to post yesterday and and it didn't get saved, which might be a good thing because I just did not have the energy to write anything insightful anyway, but I lost all my quotes so bummer.

First Abbadon abducts Gavin, aye. Nothing in particular to add to that.

Then the dumb angel, Ezra, in the bar. He may very well have been put there on purpose by Metatron - knowing what he would do and what he would reveal. Metatron is writing this. He would not be so dumb as to put this guy in a bar without knowing he'd be caught, or maybe even giving him false information about the gate to heaven. I do like Cas' footsteps as he appears to Ezra.

Ezra: Is that .... him?
(Before Cas came in, I thought maybe it could be Metatron too since the conversation wasn't conclusive.)

Sam and Dean enter the scene. Dean, for obvious reasons, is very willing to torture the angel for information.

Cas:If you don't want to do it, I understand.
Dean:Who says I don't want to do it?

Sam realizes that this is not going to work anyway and stops Dean from going through with it.

Sam: I mean, do the math. Ezra here is one of Metatron's elite posse? really?... Does that make sense?
Dean: Only if Metatron is purposefully surrounding himself with losers.

Dean: I get it, he's a fan!
(I love this camera angle!)

Dean doesn't particularly look disappointed with the change in plans, but he sort of sounded disappointed when telling Cas - "I barely touched the guy." As if to say, if anyone was going to kill him it should have been me.(But that was probably just my imagination.)

Cute scene:

Dean: That's the problem. You don't think anybody's lying. I think everybody's lying. ... It's a gift.

Cas' talk with Sam - although Cas is just confirming facts for his idea to talk with Gadreel, I think it is also a reminder to us and Sam that Gadreel was not malicious when inside Sam. He did not possess Sam. He was just there inside him (except for when he took over I guess).

Cas: Did you ever feel threatened?
Sam: No more that he... wasn't at rest. He had unfinished business. Now that we know more about him, I'd say he felt misunderstood.
Cas: Not a danger. Not hostile.
Sam: No. I was wrong obviously. He killed Kevin
(not necessarily, Sam)

Dean remembering how the blade felt - as he sits in Cas' headquarters, and Sam bringing him back like that - shows again that Sam is the only one who can bring him back from his killing lust

Crowley and Abaddon scenes... I grinned at the "no one in the history of torture has been tortured with torture like the torture you'll be tortured with," but I also liked the drum rolls as he gave his "war speech" to his "commanders" before this.

Crowley: Spread the news. The king is back.

Gavin scenes were cute as well as the reminder that Crowley is not all demon anymore. He has "FEELS." And this makes him act a bit more nicely to Gavin then even he did when he was human - must be the guilt and wanting people to love him and the two hundred some years he had to remember what an awful dad he was.

Gavin: I can't be consorting with demons!
Crowley: Not just any demon. I'm the king! The king of Hell! And there you were worrying the old man wouldn't amount to much.

Cas and Gadreel scenes, not particularly important except to remember that Gadreel is considering being a spy for Cas, and we have to remember that Metatron probably knows this ... again since he is writing the damn story. The fact that assassins come to try to kill Cas or both, just shows this.

Sam and Dean going to the grave - the hellhound part surprised me. I wonder if Crowley did that on purpose just to have a laugh? I was really expecting something like Abbadon confronting them before they got the blade and getting it first, or something like that. It doesn't make sense to me that Abbadon would consent to Dean bringing the blade to her. ??? What kind of stupid move is that?

Crowley getting shot and warning Dean that it is a trap was neat. It was very interesting to see Crowley powerless and just watching everything play out. (I guess he couldn't have done anything anyway aye?)

(Do you think the way he tapped his shoulder like this meant anything? I thought maybe it was his silent question regarding Crowley's shoulder.)

I understood why Dean would lie to Sam again. And maybe this time he doesn't care what Sam thinks because he knows Sam is angry at him anyway. It is true that if Sam had gone in with him, he could have been possessed by Abbadon or worse and not come out of it alive. Dean may also be worried that he could kill Sam if he got in the way.

It is significant that Sam came in at the end though and that Dean again was unable to stop himself until Sam called to him. The way Dean looks at his bloody hand and at Sam, it is obvious he is not himself when he is on the kill.

Interesting also how Sam decides they are not going to kill Crowley, even though they could so easily. I wonder why? Is it the connection they have from the trials?

Last scene in the car - Sam is obviously worried about what the blade is doing to Dean but still does not see how similar it is to how he was. I wonder if he will try to take the blade away from Dean, or lock Dean up like Dean did to Sam?
