Glad you enjoyed it! They will find each other next episode if they are going to finish the first book at the end of the season. I will be gravely disappointed if they mess it up :P
This episode had its good moments, but overall it's my least favorite of the series so far. It dragged interminably and they could easily have skipped three-quarters of the scenes with Claire and Murtagh performing. We would have still understood what they were doing.
I adore Laura Donnelly and she's perfect as Jenny, but an episode without Jamie just isn't the same. It's nice that Sam got some time off since the filming for next week's episode must have been very difficult.
This might be my least favorite episode actually. I felt the whole bit in the middle with the performing and the gypsies just dragged on, I was actually bored for parts of it. Also, I'd looked forward to seeing Murtaugh sing, as that is how t is in the books, I remember Claire joining him sometimes, but that it was mainly Murtaugh who was the performer.
Am I remembering wrong or was that whole Murtaugh/Ellen thing not in the books?
I would have preferred if the last part with Dougal and the deal making would have stuck closer to the book, but they got the important information so I shouldn't complain.
It's getting close to a year since I read the book, am considering rereading it once this season is over.
I can understand that. They did spend a lot of time on stuff I guess they could have cut.
The Murtaugh/Ellen thing was in the books, but at a different time - actuallly Jenny gives the bracelets to her on Quarter Day, and she wears them to it, Murtaugh just happens to come for a visit(bringing her stuff), sees them and complements her - I think he says, "they suit ya" or something.
Then next, we find out he actually gave them to Ellen in a scene which should have been in the next episode. One Scotts family rescues Claire and in the process of trying to get him to help her rescue Jamie, Murtaugh comes in and recognizes the man as another of Ellen's suitors and they talk about the bracelets there. It's a really good scene - all of it. I really hope they don't cut all my favorite scenes next ep. But actually I don't know how they can include everything - there is so much.
I was a bit surprised when the ivory bracelets/Ellen/Murtagh story popped up in this episode, too. I was pretty sure it hadn't been that way in the book.
Oh, yes. *That* I have a faint memory of. I remember that other guy giving Ellen the pearls. Though I'm starting to suspect he won't be included in the story. I'm getting the impression the next two episodes will be a lot different. Hopefully I'm wrong, as there's a lot I wish to be included. I'd be fine if they skip the wolves though.

I think Sam would need the time to prepare for the upcoming scenes.
