Paperwork
I have a funeral director, so at around 3pm UK time that will all start being handled (she is currently at another funeral). I have the paperwork I need on its way here, other than his passport and I've done all I need to do to make sure that the funeral director can get it.

The Wake
People have mooted the idea of an online gathering to celebrate Paul's life and I think it's a very good idea. If anyone willing to help with that would put themselves forward it would be really appreciated. Please reply here or email or message on Twitter or text. Very probably I shall gather a list and work it out from there.

I have a Notepad file, pragmatically named, with a list of people, things happening, and things to do and get or that are being got.

Long night is long
One of those nights where you decide it's morning. For some reason I've been really cold all night, huddling under extra blankets.
One and a half hours to go before Germany officially wakes up and the long day begins.

Very Sad News
I'm sorry to have to give the news that my husband, Paul Brown AKA Dapol or Pol has died. He was on a work call and passed very suddenly, at around 3:45 UK time, 4:45 German time, in Germany.
Obviously we can't have a proper funeral but at some point I would like to hold a memorial service.

This World's Terrible, Let's Make Another One!
I'm alive and still haven't had Covid-19, but given how transmissable the current strain is, and the exciting new ways uk.gov seems to be finding to get just the right level of infection and death, I'm not sure of making it all the way through the three years or so I expect the entire pandemic to last.

Sparrows, Magpies and a Robin
There's a gang of sparrows that live around here and spend hours at a time eating suet in the branches outide. Now and then a robin claims a suet-filled coconut shell, but even he can't see off fifteen house sparrows.
The other visitors come to the windowsill above; magpies, who are very polite about taking a lump of suet and going off with it. ( Read more... ) -
