Illusion LVIV {Video//backdated to the 9th}

Oct 10, 2011 20:31

[Today, Fran is sitting on the edge of a skyscraper, hands behind him, surrounded by apples and apparently not caring that he's thousands of feet about the ground. He stares up at the sky, apathetic as ever. It's grey, as per usual, beams of sunlight casting down on the entire city, illuminating the tops of lower buildings. The view is really quite ( Read more... )

[She isn't sure where he is, so she answers by video first. It's hard to judge this type of mood in Fran, but she responds to it with a gentle smile.]

Hey, Fran?

Where are you?

[If she were there with him, she could hug him and sit there beside him (trying to not get dizzy from the height).]

[He turns to the video feed, a little surprised that someone actually listened to all that rambling. Ah, it's Usagi. His expression softens a little.]

[X,Y]. On the top of the building, if you don't fall off.

[She listened to every word, carefully, she really did! Her own face lightens a little as his softens, and she nods quickly before he can change his mind to solitude.]

Mm! I'll come right now.

[She manages not to get (very) lost, and when she arrives, wobbling a little as she tries to keep her tricky footing, she's clutching a blanket in her hand.]

[She may not notice it right now, but if she gets too close to an edge, a wall will appear. Her falling off was not something he wanted to see.]

[Meanwhile, he just sits next to a pile of apples on the edge of the building, staring outward towards the city. He wasn't expecting her at a set time- really, he didn't mind if she took a little longer.]

This isn't the afterlife.

You missed the "and we've all been tricked", Master.

Why do you say that?

Don't you think I'd know?

It might be some other kind of trick, though.

I'll wait for confirmation from Satan on that.

...

We're all insane. There we go.

Are you always this cheerful?

[Because seriously, what a nice sentiment to force onto everyone.]

Oh, no. Today is just a special day.

You should probably stop having them. You're gonna bring the place down.

I would hate to see that happen and have some semblance of quiet.

I would wish you a happy anniversary, Fran, but it does not seem that you find it so. But I am glad that you and I could meet in this place, even if it is not the most ideal of circumstance.

[In more somber tones.]

If indeed we are heading toward, 'the end', as you say, there is little that we may do to prevent it. We must pray and accept such a fate with dignity, must we not? I do not like to think that this is the afterlife - it is not at all how Heaven or Hell are described.

[And more cheerful.]

Are the apples not delicious? We should take advantage of the bounty we have this week, and enjoy it while it is here.

....Juliet isn't that bad, compared to most people here, I guess.

[This means he likes her, certainly.]

Ah, if you want to slow the process, I guess. Really, I think it's just a choice of how fast we want the end to come.

They are quite nice, yes. [He takes a bite from another one.]

[She smiles.]

That is kind of you to say, Fran.

If it is possible to slow the process, I should like to. But I do not think that we have a say in it, one way or another. But I should like the chance to live my life and enjoy it fully.

[He doesn't smile back, but he looks less dour than before.]

It's just the truth.

Juliet really is an optimist, isn't she. Being happy even when she's sort of like a prisoner.

[Frau had been spending almost no time in his apartment as of late so when he sees this he is already wandering around Adstring. On impulse, he decides to go find the little froggy man that he usually spends so much time teasing. He compared the feed to every skyscraper he passed until he found the one he was looking for. He took a slow breath and leaped, using his zaiphon to give him boosts when he needed it and the building for support. When he got to the top of the building, he just walked over and sat down next to Fran.]

Hey.

[Though he had heard a person jump up the side of a building, he was surprised that it was Frau sitting next to him. Really, he would've expected him to mock over the video feed, perhaps. But he didn't really care that much- today, he didn't care about much at all.]

Hi.

[For a moment or two he just looks at Fran. It was generally pretty difficult to assess what this kid was feeling, which wasn't something he was used to. Oh well, no harm in trying. He looked back out to the view of the city from the sky scraper.]

You ever get lonely in this place?

[The question catches him off guard, if only a little. Still, he tries to not show it- that would reveal the truthful answer. He stars intently at the view of the city as well.]

....

Not really. Eventually, you just stop caring. It really boils down to survival, after all.
