Time for random post!  Rawr~

Life's not too bad so far.  Work's... work.  Meh.  Could be better but could be worse.  But given how piddly I get paid, I think the stress/drama levels are kinda high....  Need to win the lottery or something.  ._.

Comike has finally came and passed, so time to go on my bi-annual doujin buying spree at Melon Books/ ( Read more... )

Can you convert these calculations to % EXP per hour for someone who is high level? I am interested in comparing it to the EXP gain in Maplestory. The level cap in Maplestory is level 200 so numerical EXP is rarely used because the numerical number needed to level up is very large. I am currently level 130 and need approximately 50m EXP to level up.

Knowing the % EXP per hour will make it easier for me to analyze the EXP gain to reach a maxed job+subjob in FFXI with a level 200 character in Maplestory.

Actually, despite the increase in exp to get to higher levels, all levels (barring unfortunate parties, bad set-ups, poor playing, etc) have the potential to take about the same average time to level up in. This doesn't count the first 10~ish levels, though, since you can get those in about an hour or two total ( ... )

Thanks for the info. Looks like the EXP curve in Maplestory is much more demanding. Even under ideal conditions with a good party, EXP gain eventually declines to about 5% an hour at level 110.

The game is essentially a work in progress. There is very little content available for anyone who has passed level 100 since the majority of players hover between level 70-100. Leveling up usually requires around 12-16 hours of partying at the higher levels. The only exception to this rule is when you buy a double experience card (one of the main ways the game makes revenue due to its lack of a subscription).

Despite the steep leveling curve, I am still amazed that some people have reached level 180+.

Method to the madness! They set the curve that way to make you want to buy those double XP cards so they can get your monies!

I wanted to say THANK YOU!! for the Christmas gift. Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't print anything in Japanese. Sadness.
But thank you! I haven't watched the DVD yet, but I've started reading the book. I think I need to read it when I'm not heading off to bed so some of it sinks into my skull.

np, Carrie-mama :D Hope you had much happiness over the holidays ^^ And I'm glad you didn't have the DVD yet. That part of your list looked kinda old~ish and I didn't know if it automatically updated or anything. @.@

I always say I'll do stuff like exercise more, actually concentrate on learning Japanese, etc... once I quit the MMO scene. But it looks like I'll never be able to kick the addiction! :x
