She thinks you don’t see her standing there, watching you with her once bright blue eyes. Elle thinks you’re still completely unconscious from her little outburst before. But that’s not true; you’ve been shifting in and out of consciousness for a while now. And you’ve definitely noticed her presence.
The way she came to visit you after she woke up. You just tried to kill her, and she’s watching you. You wonder what’s going through her mind. Does she hate you now the way you hate her? Does she finally regret what she did to you?
You wish he could rip her head open for real; see just what she was thinking.
You wish she would come in here. Talk to you. Maybe even attack you because, you want to know just how badly you ruined her. Destroyed her the way she once destroyed you. You can still hear her in your head, egging you on that night.
Gabriel, isn’t that special?
And yet despite everything, you find other images traveling through your head, old fantasies.
Her body pressed against yours, hot and heavy. Her tongue clashing with yours. Your cock buried so deep inside of her that you could no longer tell where she ended and you began.
You want her.
Despite everything. Despite the fact that you just murdered her father and tried to murder her, you want her. You’ve never wanted someone the way you want her. You consider just taking her once you escape out of here. After all, after what she’s done to you (still worse than what you just did to her, you’re certain) she owes you. She’ll always owe you. And you saw that flash in her eyes, that guilt as you had told her that she was responsible for what you had become (because she was). Perhaps her feelings hadn’t been completely false after all.
You watch closely as an older woman comes to talk to Elle. You can’t hear the conversation, but the way Elle storms off makes his stomach twist. Was she leaving for good? Why does that matter?
It doesn’t matter. It’s all a matter of time. She’ll be yours in the end.
Because wanting her has gotten you both in this rut to begin with, but you can’t help it.
Maybe it’ll be different. The scales are even now. Maybe this time around, you won’t ruin one another again. You like to think that’s possible. That you could be happy with her.
And it’s at that thought that you realize you really are insane.
