Writing Clark Kent

Tackling the subject of Clark Kent is a monumental task, broader in scope and more finely detailed than would be feasible here, and in reality, it has taken more than a few published books and TV documentaries to even begin to try to cover it all. Instead of taking on every single facet of every incarnation of Clark Kent and his ( Read more... )

You did great! Very well written and it certainly gave me more insight into Clark.

Did I manage to fix my infinite formatting mistakes before you read it? *wheezes* Man, LJ comes up with new ways to mess up my code every time, I swear. :)

Oh, and isn't it a great essay? She did a great job with it through very trying circumstances...

Sorry that gave you so many headaches!! O_O

The link for the first scan (Superman #118) is broken somehow. Here's what it should be:

Um, Jen? Half the "Identities" section just went missing. O_o Does that mean you're fixing the formatting? *wibble*

I'll delete this comment later. :p

Hope you got to read the whole thing! Looks like we're having some trouble with the formatting, and part of the "Identities" section has been completely missing. O_o

And thanks so much!! :D

I liked this essay a lot, Saavi! You really did a good job with this. I find Clark endlessly fascinating, and he's always been one of my favorite heroes.

I'm glad all the formatting is fixed! I was puzzled as to why you'd left Clark/Bruce out in your relationship examples, but then I started reading the comments and realized part of your essay is missing. Looks like it's all here now! :)

I'm glad you included Clark/Dick, too! ;)

Thanks for the rec on Rainbow's Freedom, too ( ... )

Thank you so much! :D I'm so glad you liked this.

Thanks for the further info on the Clex relationship. I'm not sure I've read enough of those fics to really have a firm grasp. Seems like what Clex fic I've read from the comics or movieverse has been a lot darker. Clark and a much older Lex, though... *shudder* Just... no. O_o

Easy to do when you read something well-written! :)

I would recommend old_school_clex for stories that are generally more upbeat and celebratory of the early seasons of the Clex. Also there are good AUs out there that are positive. I have written a few myself! ;)

Couldn't resist butting in with some recs...

If you're looking for Smallville!Clex, the lists over at danceswithclex are the best place to start. They're sorted by type (long-term relationship, AU, kink, what have you) so you can easily find what you like- my personal favourites are the Many Colored Layers series by hergerbabe (warning: pretty boys in dresses), We Ought Not to Die (set post-Rift but bloody hilarious) or mirtai_amazon's The Oak and the Cypress.

Happy reading!

I hit the wrong key here and now Ièm getting weird symbols for apostrophes and quotations and the HTML tags that surround link tags and lj user names, like this: 'lj user=Èbradygirl_12È"

How do I get it back to normalÉ (Supposed to be a question mark!)
