Hey :) Nice result. I got that ...the equivalent of "Multiply" and "Soft Light" in other programs... As far as I know PS has those too and PSP as well. The only thing that isn't "translatable" is the blend mode "exclusion" of PS but in GIMP you can do this with a screen layer and a subtraction layer.
I'll add your tutorial to my tut list here :) It's good to have a lot of Gimp-Tuts around.
