While I'm not an experienced pagan, I'm looking forward to reading your articles. Then again I'm twenty three. Twenty three and experienced pagan does not go together. I do try to bring academic rigour to my personal practice.

Twenty three and experienced pagan does not go together.

You obviously haven't met "Elder" Ravenfire, who is younger than you.

Nor the sixteen-year-olds who've been "Wiccan for MANY MANY YEARS" and tell those fundamentalist trad-pushers that they're stuck in the past, and Wicca no longer has to involve covens or study or training or the sabbats.

Ah aren't they fun.

Nearly as much fun as the self righteous forty five year old that told me that I have no right to call myself 'priestess' because I'm only 27 and am far too young to have any kind of meaningful relationship with any deity, regardless of the 18 odd years of conscious energy awareness and at least 8 years of serious practical and book study I've done. This woman has been kicked from a 'witch 101' course several times for various reasons, including trying to take over the class from the HPs doing the teaching because she is older and therefore 'wiser'.

Ewwww. You have encountered Old Fluff. Sad that someone could get to adulthood and still be so obtuse.

Old Fluff! Doesn't that sound like a cheap aftershave for men who live alone and have 50 cats? ;-) Or else it's a tragic tale about a boy and his rabid bunny; I forget.

If you want to see a real train wreck you need to stop by http://www.wiccantogether.com/forum I've been trying to occasionally interject a voice of sanity, but i'm afraid mine may give out before their's does.

I just joined and I found annoying, stupid material right off the bat. Pagan daycare? Oooh, watch me rant! LOL!

By all means go ahead and rant. The Mod there is a strictly hands off sort of person unless something is illegal or immoral. But the basic post saying you're an idjit passes right under the radar.

Oooooh, I just wandered through that one this morning. Or, I suppose I'd seen it before, but got good and stuck in the trainwreck today. (someone must have posted a link on dps)

I'll have to find the exact quote, but I couldn't stop giggling.
Ah, here it is..."also i have psychic abilities, which it was a absolute shock when i found out that i was a empathic psychic medium clairvoyant. RavenCrystalMoon

Um, uh, um, no forewarning at all? Interesting.

I went to Phoenix PPD this weekend, as I try to pop in every couple of years or so just to keep tabs and support the community and all.
It wasn't..... horrible. The energy seemed awfully more chaotic than in years past, but not full overload, just scattered.
Seemed about half & half old timers and youngsters, very few danger-spooks, and a couple of came-out-of-the-woodwork types. (I spotted Leslie Fish in the crowd, for example, and I suppose I can probably count myself in that category too)

Llewellyn books littered the tables of course, and there were the usual overpriced crystals and silver jewelry, less of the information and more of the vendors. Still, I've seen it worse.

As for the underground... shall I start digging and meet you halfway?

Yes, let's dig! But we need to have detour tunnels to the places with yummy food. :-)

I am in the same class as you for the "Qabala" course and was wondering where you had disappeared to. I had responded to your original message on the forums about being unable to find reference to the red string, and then overnight, the most intelligent post in the forums was deleted. I had extreme reservations about joining in the first instance as many of the photographs of teachers on the About Us page are Myspace-style, webcam shots of some people who looked 12. The irony is that the second lesson mentions the virtues and vices of the last three sephiroth and they reiterate a message about people who learn a little and then feel they are qualified to flaunt their modest knowledge around in search of followers. Sounded almost like an autobiography at one stage.
