I've been mainlining Sherlock fic and even have a Sherlock icon now. This made me gigglesnort, especially:

“You’ve no idea what I’m talking about,” Sherlock observed without rancor.

“None at all,” John agreed, likewise.

Oooh, so have I. The Sunday recs at SherlockBBC (lj com) have made me very happy indeed. If you have not read them, Wordstrings' Paradox series, which begins with "An Act of Charity" is fantastic. Cannot recommend that series highly enough.

Glad you enjoyed this as well.

I haven't read that series, but I joined the sherlockbbc comm recently.

I haven't even watched the series, but I liked the fic :) I could really picture the whole situation, and both of the characters seem so alive in the fic! And their conversation was absolutely hilarious :) I kind of feel like giving that series a try now...

Oh, you must watch the series if you can, it's brilliant. And tons of fun!

Oh, you absolutely should. The second of the three has a bad case of Yellow Peril, and the whole thing crashes and burns on the Bechdel test, but what they do with Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, and how they visually portray Sherlock's thinking processes is just wonderful. The acting is top notch, as well. And, er, well, don't want to do a spoiler, so, er just, watch the first episode and you will see why the restaurant scene made me very happy.

I can so see this, Sherlock suddenly caught up in childlike wonder at something quite ordinary.

You have their voices down perfectly. ^__^

Thank you. One of the things I love about Cumberbatch's characterization is the childlike aspect that comes out especially in Sherlock's physicality. And I'm so pleased you feel I've captured their voices. I am ridiculously in love with writing these two, (and, oddly for me, seem mostly to be producing gen in these short-shorts).

Yes, you can clearly see that because he thinks so differently, processes so differently, that there are many ordinary things that he might only see by accident. And then he is drawn to it like a child seeing something for the first time, which in many ways he is!

Some pairings seems to work best in gen and "almost" slash. I think for these two, an almost-kiss would be just as intriguing as an actual kiss.

Agree about the almost-kiss.

There's some really well thought out asexual!sherlock fic in this fandom, also. I suspect AVEN's wiki has never seen so much traffic. (AVEN, which I had never heard of before getting into the BBC Sherlock fandom, is an organization of people who identify as asexual. Er, assuming you didn't know that either . . .)
