உன் கூந்தல்

Nov 03, 2006 09:31

வேக வேகமாய் என்னை விலகி செல்லும் பொழுது
என் உயிரை உன்னுடன் பறித்துச்செல்ல
வீசப்படும் பாசக்கயிறு,
உன் கூந்தல்.

tamil, short poem, கூந்தல்

I can't read tamil :( But I claim to understand it.

For us, lesser intelligent beings, transliterate this in english.

Oh sure:

"Vega Vegamai ennai vilagi sellum pozhuthu
En uyirai unnudan pariththu sella
veesappadum paasa kayiru,
Un koonthal"

In short, I'm trying to say that her hair lashes on me like Lord Yama's Paasa-Kayiru, taking my life away with her as she leaves hurriedly.

I suck at translating and I couldn't find a better word for "Paasa Kayiru" (the rope that Lord Yama carries). I also like that word for its embedded "Paasam" (Affection) in it :)

Beautiful :)

Somehow I can't translate Tamil to English either. I mean even if I can I feel like I'm not doing justice to the language...Tamil is really so awesome.

I've gotta start using that transliterator too!
