He’s seen her with her eyes shut tight in fierce nightmarish visions. He’s seen her face screwed up, struggling with noise-induced headaches or the urge to rip apart a scientific book for its idiotic theories. He knows her seductive pout and burning eyes that have so often wreaked havoc in men’s lives without pity but he has seen her face frozen in stony silence, too, standing over Stephen’s grave. The more he sees the hungrier he gets to see all her faces. And he can’t help but wonder if Cutter or Stephen ever bothered to discover what’s under the surface.
