ick, that's less than fun. are they sending you back to PT? i've seen a lot of people with disc herniations respond really well to therapy, so hopefully you'll be one of those.
Well, my therapy at the moment is a Steroid 6-day stepdown pack to relieve all the swelling and inflammation, and if that doesn't work, starting injections. The unfortunate thing is I start my new job in Ohio on Wednesday and I'm leaving Sunday to drive up there... I guess if this doesn't work, I'll have to wait until I get up to Kent State to see if I can't start some treatment up there... Any suggestions? :D
well, none specifically since i have neither examined you personally nor procured my license yet. :o) i would look into trying to get into therapy once you're up there, though. getting the inflammation down is a necessary first step, but obviously i am a firm believer in exercise or i'd have chosen a different profession. it could be that you're not a candidate for PT (certain types of severe herniations really don't respond to therapy, and maybe that's what your MRI showed), but i don't think there's any harm in expressing interest once you get settled.
i'd be happy to show you some basic exercises once you've gotten your initial symptoms taken care of (more of a preventative, stabilization thing to help prevent recurrence), but at this point they would be merely the advice of a friend and her textbooks, and i don't want them to interfere with anything your docs are doing. they are, after all, much smarter than me. :o)
