Hello! On behalf of il_mio_capitano, rebelxxwaltz and I would like to extend our warmest welcome to Summer of Giles 2016!

What a wonderful start to Summer of Giles! Both fics were different in interesting ways and yet the same themes of friendship, of Giles's desperation were so clear in both. Absolutely loved them both!

I love the dual perspectives on a similar situation. Very well written, both of you! I love how similar they start out, but how they diverge perfectly into their scenarios - both were well framed and presented.

Otter - I love, as my heart breaks, Ethan's realization that he will not be picked over Buffy. And he never will be.

Rebel - Very clever coin flip - maybe Giles is a little more Chaos than we give him credit for! Love it!

So glad you enjoyed the stories. There are definite shared themes, similar ideas (like the coin), and an Ethan who is reluctant to help, but then ultimately does - which were totally NOT planned. And of course, the stories are executed so differently and the interactions between the men are also different. I honestly loved seeing how this played out.

Loved both of them of course. You're both very talented writers. I love the love/hate friendship Giles and Ethan share. I liked how you had the same prompt yet the endings were about as different as you can get.

Oh and I get bonus points, because rebelxxwaltz is definitely the Ethan to littleotter's Giles.

Ding ding! Bonus points awarded. You know us well-- or at least well enough to understand who's the 'Ethan' around this place. ;D

I think it's safe to say that Otter and I have always been fans of that 'frenemy' relationship between these two characters, so it was fun for us to seize the opportunity to play around with that in a shared context. Like Ethan and Giles we have been friends for a long time, so it was no surprise that our stories displayed common themes but noticeable differences. A lot of it is down to perspective, both from an authorial standpoint and one of pure characterization. It really was a highly enjoyable exercise.
