I'm more sad about Panic than I thought I would be. They were my first bandom band though and Jon Walker was my gateway drug and I'm sad about what's happened. I hope they're still friends and if they're not I hope they can work back towards being friends in the future. Look it happened with Peter&Carl so it can happen with Panic okay. ( Read more... )

rambling, sam, craft, panic!

This post was lovely to read and while I don't agree with all of it, I agree with enough to be made happy by it. :) I honestly think Jon left because of the music and not because someone had to go with Ryan. I don't really think any of them are the type to do something that made them unhappy just because another one of them needed a keeper. The difference between the music Brendon and Spencer released and the music Ryan and Jon released is vast and if making one of the other was going to make half of them miserable I'd rather they did this than spend the next year sad and arguing about it. Shane's tweet to Ryan and Jon adding everyone back on Twitter makes me think that they'll be better off as friends now that the tension has been released. That's just my opinion though. :D

Jac this is exactly the kind of response I needed, thank you so much for a) saying it and b) saying it first. I'm so sad over all the bitching I've seen reading 6 or 7 posts. I don't get it, what's with all the hate?

I hope Jon left for the music too. I hope the Jon that we have created in fanon is doing it ~for the music~ because his heart is there, you know?

Shane's tweet to Ryan is very, very sweet.

It'll be interesting to see what happens. I really do stand by my idea that this isn't the last of any of them, by any stretch of the imagination :)

I kind of expected it on Monday, but the sheer amount of venom that poured out afterwards - especially towards Jon and Ryan - made me so sad to be associated with this fandom the rest of the week. Until I took a stand and defriended everyone who was making me miserable with the wank (including the patd comm).

Jon was never part of AFYCSO which was all Ryan's emo teen angst (part of me is confused why Brendon and Spencer went back to that but, hey, i don't mind). Jon came along and made everyone happy and Ryan grew up and, I don't want to say got over but I think he dealt with the angst and got a lot happier and they made Pretty Odd because they'd all changed.

Ryan is still growing up (and he probably has a way to go - some people forget they're only 21/22, most people aren't as mature as they like to believe they are at that age, especially if they've got money/fame) and his musical tastes have changed and are now more in line with Jon's. I'm glad they're being mature about this at least and not forcing something between them that ( ... )

I agree, the absolute venom is unbelievable. Good for you for getting rid of miseray inducing things. It's not worth it.

I hope you're right, that PO was something they were all into. It certainly seemed it, at the time. I guess it's only now we're rewriting history?

Some people forget that they've had an awful lot to deal with in that time, too.

I don't either - I think talent will win out :) I feel quite optimistic about their futures.

The Libs' Best Of makes so much more sense now. I never knew the details about their contract! Good lord.

Hahahaha, I know right? It seemed so weird but once I knew details of their contract it made soooo much more sense.

Relatedly, I think DPT were signed for a 3 album thing too, I think Carl's solo album will count as their 3rd one, if you want my opinion.

That would also make sense, I suppose. Though why on earth anyone would sign any member of the Libs for a three-album deal post-Libertines is sort of beyond me, Rebs. Surely they've proven themselves terribly incapable of holding to it?

Man, talk about your explosive band breakups. To be honest, part of the reason I'm not so broken up over Panic is, I think, due to The Libertines.

I agree but I also think Carl's better at hiding it/was in those Libs days. Like, he seemed very professional and like he WANTED to be keeping things together?

I wouldn't be surprised if this is how it ends up, really. And honestly--I would love to hear what Brendon would do as a solo project.

It'll be interesting to see, anyway :) Me too, I really think he could do it, just him and a geetar.
