This series is breaking me a little. Considering the reality of what happened with Catalina, the ending made me wibble considerably.

Maybe it was because he wanted to fight Dick Grayson forever. It had never been about the ultimate submission. It had only ever been about the fight.

Oh, god, YES! This! Slade loves to go up against Dick, because Dick keeps fighting back, against all odds, even when he knows he can't win (even when he knows he doesn't want to win), and he never ever stops. He's the Yin to Slade's Yang.

The next few seconds were a blur and even many hours later Slade would have trouble remembering just how many times Dick punched him, but Slade would never forget the force of those blows or that he didn’t once hit Dick back but kept hold of him until the black storm passed.

Wow. That was intense. I love this little look into Slade's mind, it's so very dark and twisted yet somehow (in a messy, screwed up way,) protective and affectionate. The way you inserted DC's cannon was also well done, subtely slipped in right at the end where we've stopped expecting it! Awesomesauce!
Dick and Slade are so complicated and complex, I don't know if it's because there are so many different writers writing their interactions but they're always blowing hot and cold. I love how you capture this in Slade's very thoughts. It is always about the fight, we've seen (read) this in so many different interactions.
Kudos to you for another awesome installment in this series!

That's exactly how I see Slade. He's not all bad and certainly not all good, but he loves in his own way, even if he doesn't want to admit it. It's also about territory. Dick is his.

Slade's reaction to what he discovered about what happened between Dick and Catalina was really spot-on. Now, I'd love to be a fly on the wall when a) he extracts the confession from either party (that it was rape and Dick was unwilling) and b) what he'll do to Catalina.

I'd better get writing. It should be an interesting moment ;o)
