It isn't anyone's job to clear ice, they've been doing it out of necessity and their own desire to help.

I should expect there to be ice around until the spring, or at least until the first serious thaw. Safe paths through it are all we can manage right now.

Unless they are blind, of course they can. But as far as I'm aware, those who are able to have already attempted in clearing the grounds as much as possible. It isn't an easy task.

... Unfortunately, things are the way they are at this castle. I believe that most people have done what they can to accomodate you but if it is still not within your expectations, I don't know what to tell you.
