While there are a number of suggestions that duplicate the idea of being able to find all of a user's entries in a community (see
http://community.livejournal.com/suggestions/tag/community%20search:%201%20member%20entries ) this suggestion is unique in the idea that there should be a public link to these on the user's own journal.

I LOVE this idea, frankly. It can really be difficult to find the comments we make in any given community...

I really like this idea, including the idea of having a link on users' personal journals.

Just one important note: if there was an automatic tag of some kind, I would definitely want it to be separate from the main community tags list. Some communities have so many tags it can be hard to find things already, without having two hundred username tags added into the mix.

It would also break the tag limit for many comms - if these tags were counted, it would mean trouble for member-rich comms where many people post.

It would also be useful to have a communities list on the users personal journals where you could click on the list and see how many entries that user has in a community, and then click on the number to see those entries without the clutter of the rest of the community.

Love this part.

The idea would be to have each entry automatically tagged with your username as you post, or for there to be an alphabetical members list that brings you to their entries in the community.

This I don't see scaling well for large communities. Think about ONTD.

Sorry, but ONTD? What does that stand for?

But I agree with you completely about the large scale communities, which is why I thought of having the page on users personal journals to have their entries listed.

To be clearer, as I never explained the tags well enough- or at all- I was considering the community tags and user tags to be completely different. Kind of like a "user list" plus a link to their contributions, rather than just a tag. That is also where the alphabetical members list tied in.

No more typing these ideas early in the morning lol. I forget major details.

I'm guessing ohnotheydidnt, the member list there is absolutely massive.

ONTD is ohnotheydidnt, the largest community on LJ, and fully capable of bringing the site down in case of major celebrity scandal or death.

This is one of those suggestions I want most. I'm not really picky how it's implemented, just that it is.
