Community Entries

An easier way to find your entries in a community using a tag or separate link in your own journal

It would also be useful to have a communities list on the users personal journals where you could click on the list and see how many entries that user has in a community, and then click on the number to see those entries without the clutter of the rest of the community.

Love this part.

The idea would be to have each entry automatically tagged with your username as you post, or for there to be an alphabetical members list that brings you to their entries in the community.

This I don't see scaling well for large communities. Think about ONTD.

Sorry, but ONTD? What does that stand for?

But I agree with you completely about the large scale communities, which is why I thought of having the page on users personal journals to have their entries listed.

To be clearer, as I never explained the tags well enough- or at all- I was considering the community tags and user tags to be completely different. Kind of like a "user list" plus a link to their contributions, rather than just a tag. That is also where the alphabetical members list tied in.

No more typing these ideas early in the morning lol. I forget major details.

I'm guessing ohnotheydidnt, the member list there is absolutely massive.

ONTD is ohnotheydidnt, the largest community on LJ, and fully capable of bringing the site down in case of major celebrity scandal or death.

Yes, I meant ohnotheydidnt.

They have the maximum number of members.
Many posts get the maximum number of comments.
I imagine they top out in terms of tags.

Basically, they're one of the most heavily used communities on LJ, so a great community to look at when scaling an idea.

They also tend to find limitations that not even the developers remember are there - didn't they reach the maximum number of comments that can be left on a journal a while ago or something?

Yeah, I think that was their latest boundary testing feat.

They certainly did. It was very exciting. As I recall, xb95 wound up popping out of retirement-from-LJ-issues for a few hours and assisted in diagnosing. This was sometime about a year or more ago.
