Customizing LJ home screen for paid users

Short, concise description of the idea
Basically rather than seeing a jumbled mess when I log into my LJ profile, I propose that for PAID customers the idea of being able to customize my home page rather than having to see LJ Spotlight or anything I don't care to see.

This is similar to http://community.livejournal.com/suggestions/732233.html from not quite three years ago.

Some of the points from that discussion:

There was support for this suggestion (with crankiness about Writers Block, tips (CPROD), and comments appearing on the home page).
Some users thought this low-priority as they do not spend significant amounts of time on this page.
This would be similar to the MyLJ (portal) page. (The portal was discontinued during the intervening years.)
There was some preference for being able to do the setup on another page for a lighter load experience, rather than doing the setup on the homepage itself with dynamically addable and removable boxes.
LJ may want to force certain items that users may want to remove.

The MyLJ portal may have been "discontinued," but it still exists. I use it as my entry point, because I find it much more useful and less cluttered than the current entry page. Simply bookmark http://my.livejournal.com or http://www.livejournal.com/portal.

I had no CLUE this was still there! I thought it was totally gone, in favor of the 'Home' page...

Interesting!

Thanks for sharing.

This sounds like quite a good idea. I don't really use the homepage, but I might if it was customisable.

I'd particularly like a "links" section where you could link to all the LJ site pages that you use the most (e.g. linking straight to a particular FAQ page or whatever).

That said, I imagine it would take quite a bit of work to set up something like this, and there are plenty of other things that are more important for the LJ team to do first.

I'm in favor of this, at a very low priority of course. Not many people spend a lot of time on the home page, but perhaps more would if it it were more customizable?

Agreed.

Agreed. I would probably hide some modules if this was available, but I don't think it's a very high priority change.
