I actually like the idea, for this point:

Good for privacy and security of members, who may have information up on their old accounts that they would like to get rid of but can't (don't have access to e-mail, can't remember password, etc.)

I have a LiveJournal that I've written things I wish I didn't make publicly available...just lots of pathetic drivel, but there's things that I really don't want someone who knows me to accidentally come across.
