I appreciate your concern about this suggestion, but after reading it through, I determined that the heart of the suggestion, to provide an acknowledgment that permanent users were also affected by the downtime, in a humorous way, did in fact have merit.

First, let me make the disclaimer that I am NOT one of the perm users that complained about this, and was actually embarrassed to be a perm user and seeing people that did so, and also scratching my head in wondering what they had hoped to gain.

That said, show me ANYWHERE in the OP there is a genuine valid suggestion or actual valid contribution to LiveJournal or this community, and I'll by it.

Every time LiveJournal sees fit to offer an extension of paid time, for any reason, without exception there will be complaints from Permanent users that they were also affected. Believe me, I'm not anti-humor.

And I'm NOT a Permanent account holder who whines every single time LJ is down, either. (And I know many others who don't whine, for the record.)

But really... (sigh) This for those who do whine? Well, I guess squeaky wheels get grease.

Seriously, what? I had thought this suggestion was that Permanent members would receive paid time that could be given to other, non-permanent members, but this serves no practical benefit. Isn't there a possibility that this would cause the disgruntled Permanent members to complain that they're given a useless "benefit"?
