By the way, I forgot to add one thing: the "parent" link should include a #anchor to position the page at the comment that was emailed, rather than at the parent comment.

I'd agree with the original suggestion, but I'm not sure about this... why have the anchor position the page at the emailed comment when clicking on the "parent link" link? It just doesn't seem to make sense to me.

Usually, it doesn't make a difference, but sometimes, the parent may have a large number of replies, and the comment being linked from may be somewhere in the middle, which may make it hard to find. It's always easy to hit the "home" key to jump to the beginning of the page in a long thread, if you want to start reading at the parent, but it's often somewhat more annoying to find the comment you got there via.

If the thread is short, then there's not much of an advantage, but no drawback either.

*nods* Fairy snuff, I just think that since there's already the link to the comment itself, then linking to the parent comment but anchoring at the posted comment kinda defeats the purpose of linking to the parent comment in the first place. It's not as if you can't jump to the parent comment (at least I =think= the [parent] link's on all (bog-standard) layouts) from the posted comment.
