I do like the Halloween colors better than the standard ones.

You might find ljskins useful. Someone there has managed to make a Dystopia look for one of the new site schemes, which is just great.

The only problem with these is that it needs GreaseMonkey, which I don't actually like. :(

But yes, to the OP, I fully support a wider choice of themes. That said, much as I utterly adore the unDead Journal version we've currently got (I misread it first as DJ, and LOLled myself silly when I realised the slight difference), I wouldn't be sticking with it 'cause the red on black's too dark for me to read properly.

As long as they're themes of existing site schemes and require very low maintenance, sure, why not?

I think this would be a great idea -- not only to make the holiday themes and other interesting site scheme themes available year-round for people who love them, but also to make a "business as usual" theme available for people who do *not* like the holiday themes to pick when things get all zombied, mistletoed, pink and red, or otherwise potentially objectionable.
