As you said, the FAQ covers this. I don't see a need to have LJ change their stance on this.

yup. There are strong business reasons LJ isn't constantly selling permanent accounts. It isn't just because they want to piss people off.

LJ will sell permanent accounts when they want to, and when the account structure is settled again.

What would be interesting, however is a queue for permanent accounts - one could put themselves on a waiting list or flag interest in some other way, and then rather than having a 'sale', LJ could offer permanent accounts to a limited number of interested users when they need an extra couple of thousand dollars that month.
