Short, concise description of the idea
Back in the old days there was a way to search for people who have who have the most interest in common with you. In my opinion it was the best way to find friend on LJ and is sorely missed.

I remember that search, and I liked it. It was a little more complicated that just most interests in common, it also weighted the interests by uniqueness across the whole user base. So an interest like reading, kittens or sex, would have much less weight than less common things like the klingon language, sky diving & sex, or welsh corgis wearing goggles, and a person with two very unique interests in common with you would easily rank above someone with half a dozen of the very common interests in common with you.

I wouldn't mind seeing this feature come back, but I do believe it went away due to database strain. I also am pretty sure it was a paid/perm account only feature last time, and would be okay with it coming back as such again.

I liked that feature also and would be happy to see it back. I don't know what the situation is in terms of server strain, though.
