I think instead of remembering your password, you should just remember to log out. :)

I'd hate typing in my password every time I want to view my journal!!

Prompting for a password won't help if you forget to log out, because you'd also forget to log out of the new password layer you're suggesting.

Turn off the "remember me" checkbox on the login page and close your browser when you're done and you're all set.

Like I mentioned earlier, I really don't see an extra password happening for a journal, when it's possible to log out and it's possible to close the browser and have that log you out automatically, as some of the other commenters have suggested ( ... )

I hope that if there is a fast time-out set up, it'll be configurable - like many Web BBSes where you can say "log me in for N minutes". I'm the only person who has access to the computers I normally use for Livejournal, and someone with access to them could do much more interesting and harmful things than read my Livejournal, so I don't need extra security for Livejournal. I stay logged in all the time, and it would suck for me to have to enter my Livejournal password a lot more often just because someone else is concerned about forgetting to log out on their family computer.

I was thinking in addition to the existing options: currently we have the remember me vs. forget me on log-out; both of those are very much needed, and shouldn't be meddled with.

But it would be nice to say "log me out after N minutes of inactivity", where you could specify or pick from a list of options. I believe the browser-close log-out already logs one out after a few days of inactivity if you don't close your browser.

24 hours, IIRC. (Or is it 12?)
