I love the idea of LJ, as a community, showing support for various causes throughout the year. Good karma, all the way around.

I would suggest, however, expanding it and allowing the entire community participate in choosing the groups it would like to help. Poll-style, of course. :)

As a paid user, I expect these logos and any other ads to not be shown to me when I log in, because that's part of what I'm paying for. That has nothing to do with the value of the cause.

[NODS] Supporting and promoting charities is something good for LJ users to do through their blogs, not for LJ/6A to do on a corporate basis, for just that reason.

(Try clicking on the "charity" tag at the top of the entry and you'll see all similar ideas abandoned as unworkable.)

Zackerlay. Especially since some people would be offended by giving to a charity that helps AIDS patients (what with only teh gays getting AIDS 'cause it's part of God's plan to rid the world of those awful homosexuals doncha know! ).
