I definitely agree with this, especially as someone who's transcribed a voice post that didn't fit in the transcription window. I had to post it as two comments because it didn't fit in one. :P

I would also like to call attention to a pair of previous suggestions. One, by ekevu, regards the editing, deleting, and general management of transcriptions. The suggestion was migrated for implementation back in 2004(!) but nothing has come of it, so I again bring it to the attention of the developers for consideration.

The other, by montecristo, concerns the usage of HTML and LJ tags in transcriptions, and was also posted back in 2004. It doesn't have any status at all.

My suggestion was originally rejected because I included these in mine, so I post them here in the comments in the hopes that people in a position to make something happen will have their memories jogged and, well... make something happen. They are both good ideas.

Thoughts: On >4096 characters for transcriptions: Agree. This should be implemented, at least for new voice posts.
On editing style of transcription container by user: Hmm, not sure. I'm wondering how practical it might be in, er, practice. As an alternative implementation, perhaps a choice between the current table and a new container format could work. I don't have any thoughts at the mo' of what'd work best though.

I don't know that a choice between one and the other would work any better. I think it would be nice to have the default in a box somewhere, then let people change it as they like to fit their tastes and/or journal styles.
