Not only should they be doing this, they should make the news comm searchable and findable. If you search in that yandex thing, you will not find the LJ news comm. :(

The average user won't understand about releases, anyway, so why potentially upset them with information they can't absorb?

But a summary sounds like a good idea (...SUMMARY post, in non-technical terms...) to me...
