Assuming a spammer doesn't buy a paid comm for the purposes of spamming, sounds reasonable to me.

Hmm. Shouldn't that be controlled by the "minimize search engine exposure" option?

I don't think so. If I understand this correctly, the "minimize search engine exposure" makes it less likely for search engines to get to the entries at all, whereas this is about the outbound(?) links inside the entries.
