Yes, please. Or at least make it so the system will recognize when "a friend" is actually "you", and refrain from sending a notif out if so.

Does anyone actually like this?

Not notifying users of their own userpic uploads seems to be a good idea, yes.

Good idea. Also, there would be less annoyed new people asking support how to turn the damn option off.

Hells YES. It's one of the first things I always have to do when configuring a new journal, and it's a downright PITA. =P

I know there are some people who like getting the userpic notifs, but I ain't one of them. =P

Ugh, yes please, this should be an "opt-in" subscription, not a default one. I think I personally would find this particular subscription option less annoying if it didn't fire off for EVERY SINGLE FREAKIN' USERPIC, and instead, sent a digest after 12 or 24 hours.
