LJ needs to update their site to at least try to look like other blog sites.

Full description of the ideaI signed up with LJ shortly after it was created. I quit because of the rude people and lack of ability to make the journal life like. LJ is surgical

I LIKE the white. It's effective and easy to read.

Having an option of colours would be fine. I know some people find it easier to read light text on dark, so maybe having that as an alternative would be a good idea. But getting rid of the current one completely - no thanks.

(Also, it reminds you of the fifties? They didn't HAVE the internet in the fifties so I don't quite know where you're getting that from.)

I wouldn't mind a light on dark color scheme, mind. Same layout, so no two designs to maintain like has been mentioned above, but different colors.

I love the simple and clean look of LJ. Part of why I'm here is because it doesn't tap-dance on my eyeballs with a billion moving parts every time I touch the mouse.

Also, just because every other site on the 'Net is doing it is not a good reason to jump on the bandwagon. See also: Flash.
