I would like this as well.

I would also be interested in hearing the reasoning behind the change, particularly any technical reasons, or reasons based on server usage statistics.

Options are always better than being forced to log in when you simply wanted to make a comment from another account. Please, bring this back!

I would also like to add my voice to those who find it exceedingly annoying to be logged in when I am commenting as another user. Please put it back how it was. It was fine.

If this is related, I want to add that if you are not logged on to your account to begin with and you just want to leave a comment with your account, you are still automatically logged in livejournal with that account.

I find it inconvenient (and annoying) because I don't want to be logged on just because I commented. Sometimes I am commenting from a shared computer and I am concerned about security. Furthermore, it is not always evident that you are logged in, so when you physically leave that (shared) computer, you believe that you are not logged in, but you are, leaving your account potentially vulnerable.

Please implement something that allows this feature to be disabled (again)!

Yes, it is related! Anytime you comment it logs you in as that user, which, as you point out, can be of a concern on a shared computer!

It's not just personal accounts that are exposed to security risk by this new 'feature'. Anyone who's the moderator of a community also leaves that community vulnerable as well. This is a huge, huge, HUGE security hole.
