This replaces the suggestion from 3 years ago:

Does this count as a more recent version of this suggestion? Or is it different enough since it just focuses on communities and not all journals?

Regardless, one objection people had was that they might not want this behavior to be automatic. For instance, a valued member of a community may have passed away and their family members deleted their journal, yet the maintainer(s) may want their username listed under the Members for sentimental reasons.

Also, I proposed this alternative, although it would allow for a manual, individual removal of such journals, although it's probably a bit too different from this suggestion and the other one.

I didn't even see that one - I somehow didn't find the "purged journals" tag and looked under deleted instead. But yeah, I would say it's different enough. This one already has comments, so I'll just leave it here.

Personally, I'd prefer to be shown the list, and then clear all the purged accounts with one button press.

You mean, like having a list of all purged members display, and then it would give you the option to select which ones you want to keep and which ones to auto-purge (via ticky boxes or somesuch)? I like that idea.

Yes, you could see all the account names before removing them, and if you wanted to keep a certain account around, you could do so easily.

That would fill my requirements as well, actually.
