Sounds like a good idea, IMO.

Yes please omg. It would be lovely to have the Known Issues up on all those times I can't get to the site but it seems everyone else can, especially.

Yep.

I hardly ever use that page because I don't find it useful.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather have the people that know how to fix a major issue with LiveJournal actually be fixing the issue than having us argue about what trivial details they should be updating on the offsite status page. Use your resources where they're better served.

Let be me a bit clearer then. As an IT professional I *hate* with an undying passion those non-technical people who's job is to update inane websites who keep interrupting my troubleshooting by asking "when will this be fixed". Every time I have to stop working to answer those questions, the ETA increases exponentially.

Why not all take a step back, assume that if the site is down, someone is working on it, and leave them the fuck alone to do their job. I seriously doubt there are a bunch of people sitting at LJI headquarters saying "wow, if we didn't have to notify the users we could keep the site down even longer and go drinking instead." So, let them do their job and the site will be up when it's up.

Except that a list of the issues affecting certain folks' ability to access livejournal.com proper might be nice, such as issues affecting people in certain locations or using certain providers. ( Case in point.)

I do agree that users don't need to know things like the "Bind to IP address" login option affecting access to ScrapBook, etc., when the site's down, though. ;)

An automatic mirror would be lovely.
