Jails Opened in NOLA?
I have received an e-mail from my sister about the man-made disaster in NOLA. Not the turf battles and such that have made the local, state, and federal response too little too late, but the "welfare state". Most of the e-mail doesn't bear repeating. ::sigh:: But

One of the more annoying aspects of this whole situation is how various rumors and legends are feeding into people's pre-conceived notions about society.
The "they released the prisoners from jail, that's why NOLA is a zoo" is a myth from the right.
The "media is racist and using 'looting' for black folks and 'finding' for white folks" is a myth from the left.
Not the finest hour for my country.
