It's like comment!fic... only notAside from the holidays, most months have their unique high and low points. My birthday is in August, for example, but it used to be the month of the hotter, more miserable weather in Michigan. January is the beginning of a new year, but it's a darker, colder month ( Read more... )

Best/Good/Positive
1) In 2006, I started one of my favorite classes ever, "The Physics of Science Fiction"

2) When I was 9-16 (a long time ago and a long time), I had a crush on a boy whose birthday was in January.

3) New Year! Resolutions!

4) Anniversary of the Emancipation Proclemation

5) Typically, this is the month I am most relaxed. In the past, because it's the beginning of the semester, slow season at work.

6) ENIAC finished (these is only cool if you're a geek, which I am).

Worst/Bad/Negative
1) Traditionally the coldest month

2) W2s arrive and are available as the harbinger of tax season. (Money, good. Paperwork, bad. And typically late. >_<) (Also, January 1863 saw the first income tax in the US.)

3) We get more snow in January (and February) back home than in other months, including at Christmas time (for several years, a "White Christmas" was a myth.

Neutral
1) 1809 The first US geology book published by William Maclure (January 20th.) Geology - rocks - kryptonite! (It's relevant, see?)

Ooo, I hope I'm first. That's my birthday month. I haven't even finished reading above yet, so I'll go do that now.

1. My birthday

2. My family went to Disney World for my 16th b-day.

3. I was in Kenya for my 11th - I saw my first solar eclipse, my first wild giraffe (my favorite wild animal back then and on my actual b-day, too), and got stuck in an elevator.

4. George Washinton and Abraham Lincoln born - also William Henry Harrison.

5. Underground Railroad established.

6. General Joseph Hooker (hee) organized the Army of the Potomac.

7. The bottle cap received its patent.

8. Grammy Awards first held (Feb 29th)

9. Battle of the Alamo started

10. Tomb of King Tut was unsealed.

This is such a cool idea. I'm looking forward to finding out how it unfolds. You come up with the bestest things.

I hereby state my intention to post again if it means I can have May (because that's when my birthday is). But I also was scared of letting it sit too long and then not getting anything :) So here ( ... )

Woot! Okay, May is yours. ^__^ Just do me a favor and do it in a new comment to the post itself, so that I can keep them relatively in order.

(I'm half tempted to do April all by myself. It's my mother's birthday month, plus April Fools Day. April showers brings... may flowers. ^__^

You can leave it at eight or come back with more. Ten was a random number. I originally (before I did January myself and realized, no, that wouldn't work) was going to ask for 5 positive, 5 negative things. Ha.

I think at this point, any two I added might seem forced. Ok to leave it here, do you have enough to work with? If not, I liked the option you threw into a prev poll - "Sue's Choice" :)

No, no, please take it. ^__^ The idea was to get some outside thoughts. Thanks for playing along.
