Random musings two

So I just got a copy of "A Hard Days Night" (some super collectors edition) and while it made me happy it also made me a little bit sad. My generation ( the millenials I think we are called) has no real musical contribution that will last like The Beatles. I mean let's face it - in 40 + years no one will really care who Nick Carter or even Miley ( Read more... )

My sentiments exactly. Its hard to find anything who appreciates the complexity of the Beatles. I have loved them since I was about 5 and where I can't remember my childhood clearly because of the bealtes I remember music.

So sad that the music industry has become so diluted by catchy hooks and voice boxes BOOOO!lol

Yeah- I just recently- in the past year or so really got into The Beatles (That right there is a testament to their staying power- a 22 year old who is just discovering is falling in love with them like a teenager in 1964 would) and that was the first thing that jumped out at me- so complex, so GREAT a band and really there is NOTHING that comes close. It's been on my mind for a while that when I or my brother have kids we REALLY won't be passing down anything great musically. And it's not like music is getting better either. I'm not a big music freak or anything and there again is a point. I, who knows NOTHING about music, sees that rock/pop music is going down hill and fast. It must be REALLY going down hill for it to be noticeable to ME.

It sort of happened for me in another way. My sister was OBESSED with the beatles as a teen and so I inherently became a fan and haven't looked back since. There music is a breath of fresh air in the otherwise stale music industry. Most of the 20 something, with a few exceptions here and there, have fallen into fads rather then seek their own individuality and that same standard has trickled into the music that is being made. Do you listen to any other bands of the 60's era?

nothing specific but I just generally have discovered with a few exceptions, I'm absolutely sick of modern (okay, mid 90s and later ) music- any suggestions would be great though...I don't have a lot of time to listen to the local 'oldies' station, though I may listen more and more as I get more - bored, frustated, something- with the crap out there ( and I used to be a die-hard Country music fan but that genre's gone to hell too-pretty faces, pretty voices, nice catchy hooks but no real substance)
I'm in general falling more and more in love with the 60s everything..from clothing right down to the slang.
Thanks for listening to me ramble.
