Random musings two

So I just got a copy of "A Hard Days Night" (some super collectors edition) and while it made me happy it also made me a little bit sad. My generation ( the millenials I think we are called) has no real musical contribution that will last like The Beatles. I mean let's face it - in 40 + years no one will really care who Nick Carter or even Miley Cyrus are dating or anything that they are doing. But people to this day are fascinated by Paul McCartney (granted Sir Paul keeps reinvinting himself) and well I don't know exactly what if anything Ringo is doing but I am sure he has his followers as well ( I love Ringo too but it's mostly just his accent I love- Sir Paul's too but Ringo's is even cooler) there won't likely be fascination with all things backstreet boys or even Hanson( and Hanson are actually really cool even now but even they don't have the staying power or the mania) my generation might have it's answer to the Rolling Stones in Green Day( I can so see Billie Joe, Mike and Tre doing that whole "farewell tour" and reunion tour thing well into their 60s )but again not the mania , not the hype , not the insane speculation on sexualities.

Let's face it. People currently in their 20s today won't be telling their kids or grand children how they had a favorite BSB or Hanson brother or N'Sync member. Or we might but it won't be because they asked about it or if we have any memorabilia. That kinda makes me sad.
