this constant battle between doing what i love/ making myself less miserable and making the parents proud/ not hurt them. this undying battle that will live on for all of eternity if no one makes the effort to understand. if there's no communication between parent and child

<3 i have often felt this way too.. i felt like i was making huge sacrifices for my parents by doing what they thought was best. But then i realized that ultimately what they want me to be is to be happy, to be myself. Even if it means i'll hurt them along the way. Because, you're right, nobody knows you but yourself. Once i realized this, it was easier for me to do what i felt was right, for the benefit of both me and my family, in the long run :)

ohmann sounds like what i've got just that i'm a guy and already 22 and still trying to be the good kid. haha having to be the one my parents can be proud of just because they feel my older sister's inadequate. ohwell such is life for now. but damn right you're gonna be a fucking awesome teacher!
